How to Build an Ozone Generator

Build Ozone GeneratorAs someone who has spent a great deal of time with ozone generators, I would like to provide some important information to those building or intending to build their own ozone generator.  At its heart, building an ozone generator seems easy.  Some guy built an ozone generator on Youtube using tin foil and a glass ashtray.  Creating a corona ozone generator requires a few simple items.  Many simple designs use a stainless steel wire mesh separated by an insulator like mica.  A step up transformer is used to power the mesh electrodes, and if all goes well, you have a working ozone generator.

I once built a radio using a paper towel roll, some wire, a diode, and scrap parts.  It worked, but not very well.  So, there is always a “Down and Dirty” way to make an ozone generator.  However, the concern for shock, fire, and failure should deter anyone from building an ozone generator for other than experimentation.

What I find that most people do not realize is the true cost of building an ozone generator.  All Ozone buys part in bulk to get the prices down.  It is easy to spend more than a thousands dollars to get bulk orders.  As I look around, I see thousands of dollars of tools, parts, and pieces needed to build an ozone generator.  I decided to inventory some of the costs that we encounter.  Here are parts we routinely buy:

  1. Wire, wire nuts, electric tape, solder
  2. Screws,nuts, and washers
  3. Switch, fuses, and fuse holders
  4. Power cords, pass through bushings
  5. Boxes to Hold the system
  6. PVC parts
  7. Transformers
  8. Plates
  9. Cover plates or end caps
  10. Dozens of smaller parts

From start to finish, our best time for one ozone generator is about six hours.  We have things worked out so the we get everything done quickly and then there is the performance evaluation.  I should mention that there are the numerous trips for parts that must be stocked ahead.  So, if you don’t mind building a hacked-together ozone generator that is an embarrassment to carry into someone’s home, I suggest you don’t waste your time.

At our prices, I have to tell you that the price for our ozone generators is hard to match.  If you are paying retail for parts, staying up late to figure every step of the assembly, and ending up with a home-brew ozone generator just isn’t worth it.  It is what we refer to as an “Economy of Scale”.  The cost of one or two units is exorbitant.  We can make a hundred at prices that are much lower than anyone else.

Of course, our “Short Proof” transformers are something you can’t find anywhere else.  This is a new and important virtue of the All Ozone generators.  While we built them to handle the roughest of situations, there is the abiding concern that someday a critical wire goes bad, our system will not overheat or catch fire.  They system simply shuts down and fires back up when the repair has been made.

We are very proud of the engineering, thoughtfulness, and quality of the All Ozone generators.  In fact, our design allows for field repairs for nearly any part.  Repairs may be rare, but when needed, it takes a screwdriver and fifteen minutes of time.
