Florida, like other states, has a hoarder home task force made up of official and unofficial members.  Anyone who has seen a hoarder home first hand, knows that it takes more than a few workers to clean it out.  Dumpsters of trash needs to be hauled away, and cleaning can’t be done until shovels of debris clear the floors to bare wood.  The idea of saving anything is almost impossible.  At best, treasured photos and heirlooms may be all the hoarder can keep.

Hoarder homes are more than a mess and an immense clean up job.  They are also health hazards.  The smell alone is devastating.  The polluted air and stench is a breeding ground for every allergen, bacteria, and fungus imaginable.  That is why everyone comes with breathing masks and full coveralls to prevent gross contamination.  

There are ways to knock down the smell and contamination ahead of the cleaning crew.  Run of a couple of our 28000 or 35000 All Ozone generators for 24 hours.  Now, this will not make everything sweet, but it will dramatically reduce the stench, and ozone will sanitize some of the worse threats.  Of course, these shock level ozone treatments require all people and pets to be out of the house during ozone treatment.  Workers can enter if they are wearing carbon filter masks.  Of course, the ozone dissipates twenty minutes after the machines are shut down.

The second use of ozone in hoarder homes is once the house has been cleared.  Carpeting should be gone.  Some or all wallboard may be stripped out.  Often, the house has been completely gutted once the cleanout is done.  Of course the smell remains.  This is where ozone can be applied once again.  Remember, ozone is used to remove odors from decomposed bodies.  It should be able to remove the worst smells in a hoarder home.
